Year-End Greetings from our JASH President

Aloha JASH Ohana,

As 2021 comes to a close, I have been reflecting on the things I am grateful for at the Japan-America Society of Hawaii and I think of you. Every one of you who stayed engaged with JASH and supported our mission to keep the ties between the U.S. and Japan strong, especially through the last two years. It is with deep gratitude and humility that I send this message to you today.

Little did we know that we would still be combating the COVID-19 pandemic today. 2021 was not an easy year, and in some respects, even harder for many. As a community, we had to band together, support our local businesses, and exercise strength, perseverance, creativity and flexibility in order to survive. We suffered losses, but we are still moving on with fighting spirit!

I would like to take a moment in these last few days of the year 2021 to thank you for without you, our members, friends and family, we would not have been able to continue doing this very important work that we do. Looking forward to 2022 and beyond, I am happy to say that JASH is ready to implement new initiatives as well as refreshed versions of our signature programs. Our educational programs pipeline will continue to provide rich opportunities for our youth in Hawaii to connect with Japan. We have planned a full calendar with a variety of events for you to engage with fellow members and friends on both sides of the Pacific. JASH is truly an organization of Nichi Bei Leaders.

If we have the honor to be added to your year-end giving list, we thank you! This year, we are fortunate to be part of the Aloha for Hawaii Charities donation campaign facilitated by Friends of Hawaii Charities and the 2021 Sony Open in Hawaii. Through this campaign, you can visit https://bit.ly/3FfTXQt to make a one-time tax-deductible contribution via credit card. The Japan-America Society of Hawaii will receive 100% of your gift plus a bonus contribution from the charity campaign.

If you prefer to donate by check, please make it out to "The Japan-America Society of Hawaii" and mail it to 1600 Kapiolani Blvd. Ste 204, Honolulu, HI 96814. We are a 501(c)3 nonprofit and donations are tax deductible in the U.S.

Thank you for being part of our journey this year! It is with great optimism that I wish all good things for you in 2022!

With Aloha,

Reyna Kaneko

President, Japan-America Society of Hawaii
