Dear Members and Friends of JASH,
Yesterday, Wednesday, September 2, 2020 marked the 75th Commemoration of the End of World War II. To honor those who served, the USS Memorial Association and the Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum hosted a variety of commemorative events over the past week, including flights for the first Legacy of Peace Aerial Parade over Oahu by historic war planes.
The Japan-America Society of Hawaii extends their greatest thanks to veterans of World War II and their families for their service and sacrifice.

This year, the Hawaii United Okinawa Association (HUOA) is bringing their annual Okinawan Festival directly to your own home. You can enjoy a front-row seat to all of the singing, dancing, speeches, and interviews from anywhere around the world! The program begins Friday, September 4th with a webinar on the 120th anniversary of Okinawan immigration, followed by special performances and festivities (including a virtual bon dance!) on September 5th and 6th.

Over 20 years ago, Ms. Matsui coined the phrase Womenomics when she began her research on how empowering women could bolster Japan’s rapidly aging society. Prime Minister Abe’s Third Arrow for economic revitalization included women’s empowerment initiatives including setting targets for women in supervisory positions in all fields. These targets have not yet been met.
