We’re kicking off the New Year with the next installment in our Taste of JASH series and our final push for our Aloha for Hawaii Charities fundraiser. Check out more details for both of these programs below.
In case you missed it, we regret to inform you that we will not be hosting our New Year’s Reception for 2022. We are saddened to miss celebrating with all of you, but are optimistic that we will be able to carefully restart our beloved in-person events in this new year.

Taste of JASH: Mānoa Honey & Mead
Virtual Pau Hana
Thursday, January 13, 2022
5:30-6:30PM (HST)
We can’t wait for our next Taste of JASH: Nomu Edition program with Mānoa Honey & Mead on Thursday, January 13 at 5:30PM! In this program, owner Yuki Uzuhashi will talk-story about his journey with beekeeping, and how he customizes his mead to be a perfect pau hana drink in our island climate. This virtual pau hana will be moderated by JASH NexGenner Gina Maeda.
Oʻahu's one and only Hawaiian craft mead mixes Hawaiian honey and tropical fruits, creating a drink tailored for the local climate. Since taking over Mānoa Honey in 2014, owners Yuki and Erika Uzuhashi and their team in Wahiawā also produce raw honey and specialty hive products. Click HERE to learn more about Mānoa Honey & Mead.
Aloha for Hawaii Charities

As a Friends of Hawaii Charities grant recipient, we are honored to participate in this annual fund-raising opportunity called “Aloha for Hawaii Charities,” offered in conjunction with the Sony Open PGA TOUR tournament.
Support the Japan-America Society of Hawaii today and give us a BOOST!

● Make your tax-deductible contribution to Friends of Hawaii Charities, Inc.
● Our charity will then receive 100% of your donation plus a BONUS BOOST from Friends of Hawaii Charities. Donations up to $3,000 will be eligible for the bonus funds.

● Your donation is made to Friends of Hawaii Charities and is tax-deductible because Friends of Hawaii Charities is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization.
● Your receipt for tax purposes will be the email confirmation you receive after you submit your online donation.

Winter-Spring Japanese Language Classes (Virtual)

Saturdays, 9 - 11:45AM
Start off the New Year with a new skill and learn Japanese! There are still seats available for Elementary 1-3 Japanese language classes at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Outreach College. These virtual, non-credit classes are held on Saturdays from 9 to 11:45AM beginning January 22 through March 26. Registration for the 10-class program is $200 until January 14, thereafter a $25 late fee will apply.

Hawai‘i Triennial 2022

Citywide Exhibition
JASH is proud to return as a community partner for the Hawai‘i Triennial 2022 (HT22), an annual art event organized by Hawai‘i Contemporary. HT22 will be framed around the fluid concept of Pacific Century - E Ho‘omau no Moananuiākea, interweaving themes of history, place, and identity within the context of Hawaiʻi’s unique location at the confluence of Asia-Pacific and Oceania. Curated in collaboration with Dr. Miwako Tezuka, HT22 invites a number of Japanese and Nikkei artists from around the world, including Ai Iwane, ‘Elepaio Press (Richard Hamasako and Mark Hamasaki), Masanori Handa, Mika Tajima, Yuree Kensaku, and many other incredible creators.
