JASH Weekly Update 6/10: Introducing our Natsumatsuri Co-Chairs

Dear Members and Friends of JASH, Don’t forget to mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual JASH NexGen Natsumatsuri on Thursday, July 29 from 6-7pm (HST)! Planned and organized by the JASH NexGen Advisory Board, this year’s summer festival will be a hybrid event with live in-person and virtual components. This year’s theme is Tanabata ‘Star Festival’! The evening will be filled with great food, sake tasting, awesome entertainment, and more as we celebrate Tanabata together. Stay tuned for more details on our restaurant partners, program line-up, and registration! This year, we are very fortunate to have two talented leaders co-chairing the event with the support of their NexGen team: Ms. Michelle Hirose and Ms. Monchalee Ota! Michelle is in the Marketing Department at Servco and is a former member of JASH staff. Monchalee is the owner and founder of Nimbus Unlimited, a marketing + magic consultancy. The JASH NexGen Natsumatsuri would not be possible without the collaborative efforts of the JASH NexGen Advisory Board. The board is made up of JASH’s young leaders who continue the mission of promoting understanding and friendship between the people of Japan and the U.S. through the special and unique perspective of Hawaii. If you are interested in being involved with NexGen, please contact Lila at lfrisbie@jashawaii.org. Thank you to Michelle, Monchalee, and the rest of the NexGen Advisory Board for your continued work in strengthening U.S.-Japan relations!

Michelle Hirose is a Senior Marketing Specialist at Servco Pacific Inc. handling brand marketing for Toyota and Chevrolet. In her role, she provides support to the dealerships with car sales and programs. Previously, she was the Community Relations and Events Director at JASH. As lead on the Annual Dinner and Golf Tournament, she collaborated with the staff, Board Members and committee members to execute these fundraising events. Michelle enjoys reading both fiction and non-fiction books, volunteering for various community organizations and supporting local businesses.

Monchalee Ota is the founder of Nimbus Unlimited, a marketing + magic consultancy, and a JASH NexGen Advisory Member. Monchalee is an award-winning, English-Japanese bilingual marketing leader with more than 16 years’ experience creating successful integrated marketing strategies for Hawaii’s premier health care, finance, retail, and travel & tourism organizations. With extensive expertise in digital marketing and social media, she has been a featured speaker at local and national conferences, focusing on the areas of health care, education, and small businesses.
