JASH Weekly Update 5/20: Natsumatsuri Returns in July!


Dear Members and Friends of JASH, The weather is heating up, and we’re loving the summertime feeling! To celebrate the season, our JASH NexGen group has been busily planning for their 2nd Annual Natsumatsuri. You all loved the awesome Zoom summer festival they put together last year, complete with delicious bento and fantastic entertainment. This year’s party will be hosted virtually once again so that everyone can join in the fun! We’ll have more information for you soon, but for now SAVE THE DATE for Thursday, July 29 at 6pm-7pm (HST)!

Virtual 2021 Spring College Fair May 19-June 2 (English) June 3-June 17 (Japanese) 3-5pm (HST)


Many Japanese universities welcome all students who are currently studying outside of Japan. They offer incentives such as entrance exams taken outside of Japan, English-only enrollment, scholarships, Fall Entrance, exchange programs with top universities in the world, and transferring systems from colleges. Each participating university has a designated program for international students and will be providing the latest information. English presentations will run from May 19 to June 2; Japanese presentations will be from June 3 to June 17. For details and to register, click here.

Virtual Concert 雨 Ame - Tears of the Earth Sat., May 22 6:30pm (HST)


Taiko Arts Center (TAC) in collaboration with Taiko Center of the Pacific present "雨 Ame - Tears of the Earth," a virtual live-stream concert broadcast from the Hawaii Theatre on Saturday May 22, 2021 at 6:30 pm Hawaii time. The concert will be available for viewing online from May 22 to June 7. Featured artists include: master taiko artist Kenny Endo, Taiko Center of the Pacific (Performing Ensemble and the Youth Group), and special guests: Peter Rockford Espiritu & Tau Dance Theater (hula and contemporary dance), Todd Yukumoto (saxophone, flute), Abe Lagrimas Jr. (ukulele, vibes, drumset), and Nawahine Lanzilotti (cello, voice).
