Dear Members and Friends of JASH, Thank you to everyone who participated in our 45th Anniversary Photo Contest! Although we haven’t been able to travel to Japan, it was exciting to join everyone on their past travels through their photo memories. You can view our finalist gallery by clicking the button above. For this contest, we received 183 entries submitted across our three categories, and 963 votes were cast during our general and final voting periods. Plus, our galleries were viewed over 3,000 times! Upcoming Events
SAVE THE DATE—Our 2021 Silent Auction will be held online from December 10-14, 2021, with auction preview starting on December 7. Our Silent Auction is one of our biggest annual fundraisers and is part of our annual Bridge Awards Event. Proceeds from the auction go directly to JASH so that we may continue to produce programming for our community.

In Japan, coffee gained popularity in the 20th century along with the increased fascination towards the West at the time. Many kissaten, or Japanese-style tea rooms that also serve coffee, opened during this period. Kissaten owners emphasized detail and accuracy in their brewing methods while creating a unique atmosphere to enjoy the coffee in. Join speaker Dr. Merry White, Professor of Anthropology at Boston University to take a look at these reinventions that stem from the delicacy and precision held in Japanese culture.
