First Virtual Origami Tutorial with Ashley Nishihara

On Friday, June 19, 2020, the Japan-America Society of Hawaii (JASH) held the first virtual origami tutorial with Hawaii’s Origami Swami, Ashley Nishihara with attendees joining from the comfort of their house on Big Island, Maui and Oahu. Origami is a simple craft that doesn’t require any special equipment, yet is very practical as you can utilize your paper creations as personalized gifts or to decorate your house.

Ashley provided step-by-step instructions, which were easy to follow for both young and adult audience, in making an awesome Aloha Shirt Card and Heart with Tie just in time for Father’s Day on June 21. Participants were also given an impromptu lesson on folding a playful bracelet and a simple lotus flower. JASH would like to express a big MAHALO to Ashley for leading this fun and educational tutorial!
